Deer gave birth in our garden!

Hej hej! (Swedish for hello)

Just over a week ago, a deer decided to give birth to her two fawns at the end of our garden at the back of the house!  See pics below!

She is still here with her little ones and since last week I have been trying to get a good photo of the three of them. We only have cameras in our mobile phones – so nothing great. Also, you can only go a certain distance close to them as they immediately run away or disappear in the bushes!

I have posted here some of my pictures I have taken to share with you (see below) as I do feel quite blessed and honored that this deer has decided to give birth in our garden, and that she felt safe enough to do so, and well, with that, yes, she has eaten quite a lot our flowers since last week but hey, no worries, prefer she stays healthy especially for her little ones!

I have been advised that maybe I should set up site in a tent in the garden for a couple of hours to get a close up picture of them. Not sure if it’s going to come to that! I will take more photos and fingers crossed get a better one! The deer hides her fawn most of the time so a bit of challenge with this basic mobile phone camera usage.

The two photos with the fawn were taken at dusk, ie, 10pm last night. Yeap, Swedish white nights setting in!

I will post any new and better pictures and keep you up-to-date on our little deer family! (New pics added!)

Best

  1. Isn’t nature fantastic? Growing up on the farm we had dozens of deer in our pastures and cornfields. Spring and early summer were my favorite times as the fawns were getting an identity and running with the adults. Your pictures brought back many fond memories.

  2. Thanks for sharing! Michele
